Wedding Anniversary: 2 Yrs

Today is a special day for my husband and I. It's our two year anniversary! Wow, I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. I still remember our wedding day like if it was yesterday.

I could write a book on how amazing this man has been in my life. We've been together for six years and half and every day I fall in love with him even more. I would love to go into detail on how we both met but it would probably take three posts just to get the whole story out. Let's just say our love story could be made into a soap opera. I am so thankful to have such an amazing man in my life. Baby, this is just the beginning! Until death do us part.

I leave you with the song we danced too on our wedding night. He dedicated this song to me when we were first dating and boy did I cry. If you've never heard of this song, just listen to the lyrics and you will see why.

Peplum Top

Lately, I've been inclined toward wearing peplum tops. I just can't get enough of them. Their unique shape accentuates the body and enhances the curves that are already there. Not to mention, they hide that little tummy that wants to peek out. Pairing this top with this subtle printed skinny jeans is a perfect way to dress up a casual look.

Say yes to comfort

The sudden gusty wind and Navy sailor on my left smoking a cigarette almost made me ruin this first shot. You can't notice on this first picture but I am holding my breath and hoping the wind doesn't blow me away. Somehow it seemed to work!

You see these shoes; let me tell you these babies are the most comfortable shoes I've worn in a long time. Let me rephrase that, these shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn! I am not even exaggerating. If I wanted too, I could be in flats all day but what's the fun in that? ;)

Music & Style

There are many artists in the music industry that I respect, whether it is Taylor Swift, Adele, or Demi Lovato. Although they (or their stylists) have great fashionable senses, it's not their style that drives and motivates me; it's their music that inspires me. Remember my post create your style? Find what inspires you and create your look. There will be days where a jump-kick is needed and coffee or red bull is just not going to cut it...so what do I do? I blast the radio and play my favorite songs! This automatically puts me in a certain mood that gives me enough energy to uplift my confidence, which then reflects how I carry myself. I can't stress this enough: it isn't what you wear; it's HOW you present yourself. If you need that extra-kick of assurance, let the music be the ultimate factor that will provide that extra boost-of-sass towards your outfits!

So, to keep you pumped up, I leave you with one of my current favorite bands - Imagine Dragons. Who wouldn't want to get ready with this song?

9-5 to Girl's Night

Untitled #53

Sometimes it's just good to slip away and have a girl's night out once in a while. How good would it be to leave all your worries aside and focus on you for a little while? I mean, you work hard and you deserve it. Am I right?

Here are two looks that could easily be transitioned from work to a girl's night out. For work, wear a cute floral peplum top for some sophistication and immediately after your shift transition that look to a fun chic outfit that would put you at ease! Go ahead and enjoy yourself. Remember, work will always be there the next day. ;)

3 ways to wear shorts

Shorts are a must for spring and summer, especially some cute ones as you can see below. Remember, this doesn't necessarily mean that you must follow the spring and summer trends of wearing pastel or bold colors. You simply choose what best suits your personal style. Follow your instincts and create a look that represents who you are.

Styling shorts can be quite intimidating or overwhelming for some; however, I am here to tell you that you can create a variety of looks with just one pair. To prove my theory, here are a couple of looks for different occasions.

Untitled #52

A simple look to get you through your farmers market adventure.  Pair these shorts with a tee and some sandals for comfort. Add a cute dainty necklace for that extra oomph to your look.

Untitled #51
Going to a concert? Keep your look simple but with extra kick by adding black details to your look. Don't forget some cute glasses to stay in the groove of music.  For this specific look, you want to tuck-in the top and add a dainty belt over it to give the look a classy, comfortable but edgy feel.

Print Shorts

For a brunch date, dress up your look with this dainty yellow peplum top. Accessorize the outfit with soft pastel colors and dainty jewels to give it a classy and feminine touch.

The Greenery

As my eyes get filled with the greenery scene, alongside the growing warm weather, it only validates the fact that summer is just beyond the horizon. The experiences a beautiful day brings, pushes myself to stop and appreciate what is in front of me. As the temperature tipped over 70 degrees this weekend, I wanted to have some fun and break out the lace with a cute pair of wedges! Just a fun tip; wearing lace is perfect for days when you want to show some skin without the vulnerability of feeling too exposed.
As summer draws near, the excitement intensifies because I know it means I can put together pieces that represent summer-fun! I think it's about time I replace my winter wardrobe with some bright, summery colors...don't ya think?!

Mixing Patterns

I know other bloggers can relate to this situation. You've found the spot and you're ready to take your outfit pictures when suddenly your wandering eye happens to catch random people staring at you while you pose for the shot. What a buzz kill! I don't know about you, but I get shy and nervous when they look. I can't concentrate people! lol Okay, enough about my awkwardness on to the outfit.

When mixing patterns, try using hues from the same color to create a delicate look. I am a stripes fan so I decided to go with a blouse with small patterns. This gives the illusion that it's a solid color. Both of these patterns compliment each other very well and can take a look from simple to daring.

Polka Dots & Elephants

Ok, I may be a bit old for elephants but I've had this top collecting dust in my closet for quite some time and thought I could pull off a look with it. Plus, who doesn't love elephants? In the spirit of patterns, I paired it with this vibrant polka dot cardigan to add a kick of life to the outfit. Polka dots are just one print you can't get a way from. Its versatility and classic pattern adds a whimsical touch to any ensemble.

Create your style

Every morning I wake up contemplating how I want to feel for the rest of the day; either "sluggish" or "marvelous" of course I go for the latter. Although everyone can relate to having lazy days, you need to push yourself and dress based on how you want to feel, vice dressing based on your instantaneous feeling of grogginess in the morning. This doesn't mean spending your savings on a shopping spree, it means learning the art of creating yourself - externally.

Start by paying attention to various women's outfits you pass daily, including styles and trends you recognize on television or magazines. Next, start visualizing how you want to see yourself - create your style. It all starts off by expressing how you want to be portrayed. Don't settle based on your income, size, or limited aspect of your surroundings. You can create yourself by understanding the tools you already have - what's in your closet? Understand the art and wear it with confidence. Remember, confidence is key! There are no boundaries to a limitless mind. You are who you are and that is beautiful! Now express it.

"Girls compete with each other, women empower one another." - unknown. Remember ladies and gentleman, understanding is just the beginning.

Boho

I would say this top would fall under my "must have" bohemian pieces. It's loose upper half and wide sleeve gives it that free spirit attitude. The bright color combo screams bohemian style, while still keeping the look girly and feminine.  There are no rules when creating a bohemian look. Work with pieces that you currently have and create your boho style accordingly. Instead of wearing layers of bracelets, I opted for dainty bracelets to keep my look a bit boho'ish yet girly.
