Embrace Simplicity

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll notice that I shared an outfit over the weekend and preceded to imply how fond I am of casual looks. Give this girl a pair of jeans, flats or booties, and I am set! Don't get me wrong, I love getting dolled up, but lately I've been leaning towards a more casual look. It is true, sometimes simple can be more.

Midi Skirt

One thing I'm excited about this fall is trying out new trends that compliment my style. With that being said, let's talk about midi skirts!

I found this adorable skirt at Ruche and completely fell head over heels for it. I've had it in my closet for a couple of days now and been pondering on which type of shoes to wear with it. Doubts began to reel in leaving me thoughts like, "Can I pull it off?" "Will I drown in this?" "Can I make it work?" Then, a new issue.

There's this misconception that shorter women don't look right wearing skirts passed their knees. Why? Well, I'm aware that the length of the skirt can make you appear stumpy, however, the trick is to wear high heels (at least 2") that gives the illusion that your legs are longer. My recommendation? If you're wearing a midi skirt, stick with heels that have a thinner strap to show off more skin giving your look a complete balance.

For the rest of the look, I chose an oxblood "top" (it's actually a dress) with a peter pan collar for a vintage/classic feminine look. It's safe to say that I was unconsciously channeling my inner "Zooey Deschanel."

Don't allow your body to create limitations for you. Simply bringing confidence to any look will make it work!!

REMIX: Sheer Pleated Peplum

Boyfriend Cardigan                                                         Fitted Blazer

We're back at it again! It's Remix time! I hope you lovely peeps are starting your hump day just right. Today's remix is a sheer pleated peplum top done two ways. On the left, you have a casual ensemble that could easily transition into a fall look by adding a knit cardigan. On the right, I paired the top with a fitted blazer for a more structured look {a good look for the office for those casual Fridays}. Which look do you prefer, the casual or business casual?

Hide and Seek

I've recently learned that Target likes to play games with me.  I normally just browse through the first few sections of women apparel leaving with one or two suitable must-have items but it wasn't until recently when I decided to venture off and skim through the labyrinth of seamless aisles of clothing and found a great deal of treasure. Before I knew it, my cart was filled with clothes and shoes that I just couldn't pass up. What's a girl to do? Give in! I mean, how could I pass up this adorable dress?! And remember, in order to make details of a pattern dress stand out, pair it with a statement necklace!

The Inevitable

There are days when I want to just wear pretty dresses and cute shoes. However, there are other days when a casual outfit is more appropriate. As I get older, {Oh-em-gee, I am 31!}, I am beginning to realize that my sense of style is slowly changing. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with change as long as I stay true to my individuality and personality. Casual looks don't necessarily mean they have to be simple and boring. You can incorporate at least one color or print and still show off your signature look. With today's outfit, I disregarded loud colors and chose denim skinny's, a quirky top for some personality, and "deepest cherry" Maybelline lipstick to brighten my lips. Don't be afraid to branch out and try new trends!

Fall Floral

For someone who loves florals as part of their getup,  I am so eager to transition the Summer whimsical floral trend into the dark hues of Fall. Paulina from Lil Bits of Chic and I unite to show you how you can incorporate a dark, textured print into your fall ensemble. To obtain a modern, edgy twist, I paired it with black booties and an edgy statement necklace. If the weather calls for it, I would throw on a moto leather jacket for an extra kick of sassiness.

Currently Coveting: Pointy Toe Flats

Pointy Toe Flats

Wine | Taupe | Leopard | Black

I have a confession to make: I was never a fan of pointy shoes. They've always reminded me of "I Dream of Genie" and it has ruined it for me since. Yes, you read that correctly. Genie shoes. However,  something has since changed and I am anticipating trying all sorts of them on. I am now a proud owner of my first adorable black pointy toe flats!! The pointy toe gives it a modern chic look that adds sophistication to any ensemble. Which pointy do you prefer - flats or pumps?

4x4 Style: What to wear on a Date

Hola my peeps! 4x4 Style is back! By reading the title of this post you could probably guess what look I am going for - casual/movie date it is.  My dates with the hubby typically consist of dinner and a movie. I like to keep my looks casual but with several touches of girlishness {of course I need to have at least one print with my look}. Depending on your sense of style and personality will determine what look you are going for. If you are not too fond of prints, you can always opt for regular skinny jeans, a solid color top, and booties. Single ladies, the key is to be yourself and get that second date!
