Adios 2014

Here we are! It's time to say adios 2014 and welcome 2015! It's been a year full of ups and downs, but  it sure ended with a bang! From purchasing our new home to getting a promotion, all I can say is that I'm truly blessed and grateful. I pray this New Year brings many blessings, especially a little bundle of joy (Lord willing!). So, whether you spend your last hours of 2014 at home in PJ's watching your favorite reality show or get all dolled up for tonight's festivities, make sure you make it memorable! Cheers and I'll be back on Monday, Jan 5th. Happy New Year my peeps!

What to Wear New Years Eve

Few years back, if you told me to put an outfit together for New Years Eve, I would have purchased everything new. Since becoming a fashion blogger, I've learned to shop wisely and only invest on pieces I know I can wear more than once. Believe it or not, I wore this dress last year for NYE (I sure did! Nothing wrong with that) But this time around, I thought I change it up a bit. I went ahead and added a fitted burgundy top for contrast and a sparkly statement necklace for a "voila!" effect. Don't forget to add some tights and your favorite booties for a quick, easy, and cheap NYE ensemble. Bring on the champagne and let the New Year begin!

We finally moved in to our new home, and I'm so happy to be back in the swing of things! I will be sharing my home decor ideas once everything is put together and complete. For now, if you follow me on Instagram, you can get an idea of what theme I'm going with. Thanks for sticking with me and let's ring in the New Year with a bang!

Shop Small

While many fashion bloggers love to shop at popular name brand stores, shopping small (what we bloggers like to refer to shopping at our local boutiques) is always a great idea, especially now for the holidays! Not only does it provide more options to shop from, but you will also be supporting your local small businesses-I'm all about small shopping! I find the most unique pieces with great quality at smaller shops and with plenty of versatility; hence this flowy cardigan. It's the perfect winter staple for the California girl.

Holiday Gift Guide: For Coworkers

You spent most of your time with them more than family. You meet up on Monday mornings with a hot cup of coffee to chat over some football Sunday, how busy your weekend was, or even how awesome The Walking Dead's last episode ended! These are you cool and fabulous coworkers. I don't know about you, but my peeps are like family to me. Now, in two weeks I will no longer be with them (I applied for a higher position and got it! - moving on up!) I want to give them something special so I thought I'd share my holiday gift guide with you all!

These affordable and unique gifts would be the perfect secret Santa gift idea for the office. This fun "Ain't Nobody got time for that" mug goes perfectly for the coffee addict. No coffee, no workie! For those chilly days in the office, a blanket should do the trick. Get rid of the sheet of paper and update her to-do-list with this fancy and adorable floral notebook!

As I mentioned above, I applied for a higher position and got it! I've been so stressed these past few days hoping to get good news and finally...It's official! I couldn't be any happier. So blessed! On another note, the hubby and I will be attending our first NFL football game on Sunday! The Patriots will be playing against the San Diego Chargers. GO PATS!! Hope you have a safe weekend!

How to layer like a Pro

Prior to starting my blog, I was an Army girl who was all about fashion but couldn't really take advantage of it as much. My Army greens were as fashionable as it would get, so when the weekends came along, it was on! I'm even more excited because it is layering season! For my east coast peeps, I know you're feeling the raft of winter, and for us who live in the west coast we are just now getting with the program. Being that is Cyber Monday, why not take advantage of sales in the comfort of your home and stock up on some fabulous layering pieces for this season!

A quick style tip to follow: Invest in a chambray top. I promise it's a versatile piece you can take advantage of for every season. For those chilly days, wear it under a sweater for warmth and for an extra layer, add this faux fur patterned cardigan and not only will you be fashionable but nice and toasty warm!

I dare you to wear this

Ever walk into a store and just look at a piece more than once? You know you want it, but you convince yourself there is no need for it so you just keep on walking but end up going back to it? Well, my friends, this lightweight sweater happened to call my name...and I couldn't help myself but just give in! Hello, it was on sale for 50% off! How can one say no? Instantly, I knew this pretty little garment would go perfectly well with my printed blouse from Forever 21 (You know it's a keeper when you can envision more than one look). A perfect combo for a chilly evening and movie night.

Preach It

One thing I like to preach in my blog is that to be stylish, you don't need to have a name brand item to be on trend. Don't get me wrong, if you can afford it, go for it! However, I'm all about being fashionable at an affordable price. What I like to do is invest in one item that can be easily transformed into multiple looks; hence this new cardigan. Whether you pair this cardigan with a dress or jeggings, this outerwear can completely change the look of an outfit.

2 Fashionable looks for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving attire

Thanksgiving attire 2
Chic Girl: sweater | necklace | skirt | shoes
Boho Girl: dress | necklace | cardigan | booties

Turkey day is just around the corner and before we know it, Christmas is here! So I thought I'd shared two looks for you that would totally work for this festive day. If you are currently on a budget but want to look your best for the occasion, my suggestion would be to invest in one item and create your look around that one piece. Grab your favorite sparkly statement necklace, pair it with a knit sweater, a leather skirt (or black skirt) some cute pumps and there you have it! A chic look for the occasion. As for me, my go-to style is comfort. Take a casual dress with a printed cardigan, add black booties and boho necklace for a fun boho styled look!  At the end of the day, you want to look fabulous yet comfortable and chic.

Change the tone

For someone who isn't too fond of black and white, I've come a long way. For today's ensemble, I went with an owl print dress, paired with a faux leather peplum blazer, and ankle booties to complete a classic look. While it's more on the edgy side, you can always change the tone of the outfit by wearing cute pointy pumps. As for me, I would totally rock this look through the holidays.

From Now On

Finally we can breathe - we got the house! Now that I'm stress-free, It feels good to be back in the swing of things. From now on, most of my time will consist of running around and taking care of stuff to get the house up and running, which is why I will be gravitating towards comfortable wear. Take this look, for example, graphic tee - yes, ripped jeggings - yes, comfortable slip-ons? Um, double yes! Who said you can't be fashionable while getting things done? ;)

Take Two

As you may know, we are currently in the process of buying a home, so my shopping habits have come to a slight halt...for now. With that being said, I have no choice but to shop my closet. Nothing wrong with that! With cold temperatures slowly creeping in, all I want to do is layer-up! You may have seen me wear this floral bomber jacket here, but this time around I went with my favorite light-wash chambray top with black jeggings. Love how pairing the jacket with a lighter top gives it the right contrast and stands out.
