Five Must-Haves at a Blog Conference

The time has come! Tomorrow, I finally set foot in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina! I can check that off my bucket list. I cannot wait to attend my first blog conference this year (it's been a minute!) with amazing, talented, and beautiful inspiring bloggers! For new bloggers, these conferences can be a bit overwhelming. You try to get the most out of it, while at the same time trying to do some networking, meeting new faces, and taking in all the knowledge you get from attending one of these but...it's all worth it...Trust me.

First thing...Before I get to the whole chi-bang of must-haves to a blog conference, make sure the conference you are planning on attending has the all necessary tools to achieve your expectations. The goal is to find a real community that not only provides tools and resources for blogging success but real people who are willing to get to know each other both online and off.

If it's your first time, it's OK to be nervous, it's normal! Just make sure you go with an open mindset and ready to learn! Take all the knowledge you can get because trust me, it will be helpful at the end.  Plus, remember that you are not the only one attending a conference for the first time.  Chances are that bloggers are more afraid of you than you are of them (Ha!). However, there are a few items that will make your life a lot easier during your stay.  With that being said, make sure you bring these five must-haves for a successful blog conference.

BUSINESS CARDS
Don't be that person.  Please don't be that blogger who is a total delight but when it comes to exchanging information, you don't have a business card to share. You. need. a. business card. period.  How do I know this you ask?  Um, I am guilty as charge for not bringing business cards to events and believe when I say this; DON'T BE THAT PERSON! People you meet will probably want to get together or follow you so, my suggestion is to add your picture (preferably the same as your blog) on your business card; that way, they remember who you are! Oh, the crazy Puerto Rican girl that talks with her hands? Oh, I remember her! ;)

MEDIA KIT
When I first started, I had no clue what a media kit was or what was its purpose. It's pretty much the guide to your blog.  It lets brands/sponsors know what you are all about and what you have to offer. It's a one page document that contains your "stats" such as unique visitors, demographics, popular posts, etc.  This should always be kept up-to-date. Don't know how to create one? Etsy is the way to go!

CAMERA
This one is obvious! How would you caption the event or memorable moments without a camera...not too mention...outfit photos! If you are a fashion blogger, no need to worry. There will be plenty of bloggers who willingly will take your outfit photos in exchange of you returning the favor. Plus, you get to have fun while doing so.  Another thing you can bring (totally optional) is a smart tablet.  For some reason, bloggers love tablets.

FLATS
I can't stress this enough..your feet will be hurting. Just throw some Tieks or flat sandals in your purse.  If they don't fit, make them fit.  You will thank me later.

EXTERNAL CHARGER
Talking from experience, this is a must! Your readers are going to want to know every little detail of the eventful day and especially, what you're wearing! With that being said, keep that phone or smart tablet of yours fully charged! Plus, you are going to want to check out websites and fact check other bloggers attending the event (Ha!).

Last but not least, make sure you set some goals for yourself. Try to meet as many people as possible, hand your business cards out, ask questions! (there is never a dumb question) and last but not least, be yourself! Have fun, stay in touch, and enjoy yourself!

Home decor: Bedroom Accents

Accents

It's our second night with the new puppy and it's been tough trying to catch some z's. While staring up at the ceiling, I notice a bare wall over our head (not to mention this cutie, Zeus). Really Jealeyni? this wall needs some shazam and style to it! I know. I know...but where do I even begin?! I can see my wedding photo hanging there and the idea of incorporating cute quotes with antique frames to add some character is enticing. While I'm at it, a side table for my belongings would be great!

What to Wear on the Fourth of July

Fourth of July

romper | sunglasses | nailpolish | denim dress | sandals

Every year when fourth of July approaches, I find myself not wanting to be too literal when wearing red, white, and blue.  Let me rephrase that, wearing less of all three colors, while still proudly showing my patriotic pride! Lately, I've been wanting to wear white and soft blues. I am in love with the online store SheInside. Thanks to Shanna Said So, I couldn't help but check out the site and of course, I purchased all my South West Blog Society conference outfits from there. The site has great quality products at an affordable price (and when I mean affordable, less than $30 dollar dresses!) Speaking of conference, I fly to Charleston on Thursday! Follow me on Snapchat: DaintyJea for my travel adventures and #SBSCON.  Can't wait!

Father's Day Gift Ideas

 Father's Day Gift Guide

But for real though, isn't hard to get gift ideas for Father's Day? I know my old man would be satisfy with anything "Home Depot" or "Lowes" related. As long it involves with carpentry, he's all about it. However, it's always good to change it up, since he's all about rock-in-roll, why not get him items that fit the category? In his younger years, he was all about the converse sneaks and white tee...with that being said...Here are a couple items I know he would enjoy.

J's Favorite: Swimwear

SwimsuitSo let's keep it real. I'm not a swimmer. I'm terrified of the ocean, however...I like to be stylish while faking the funk, ya know what I mean? For my chica's who are not too fond of swimming yet will still rock a stylish swim look while achieving that sun kissed glow, this one's for you! I'm a sucker for mix-matching prints whether it's top or botttom, I like to have fun with my look! Hola, Summer 2015!

What to wear: Statement Necklaces for Weddings

The time has come my peepz! It's wedding season! Recently, I've seen posts more focused on "what to wear to a wedding" but not enough emphasis on what type of accessories to wear to a wedding. Is it just me? but am I right? Since I'm such huge fan of statement necklaces, why not dedicate today's post on these lovely gems? Sure you can spend a couple dollars on a blinged-out outfit, but if you're in a budget like me (well..I try) why not upgrade your look by adding a lovely statement necklace to your ensemble? Trust me, simplicity is always good but with a little glam, you can't go wrong.

Outdoor Patio

Summer is pretty much here and we have yet to prep our outdoor patio for fun-filled summer activities! I've always wanted a DIY movie theater in our backyard. Imagine how fun that would be! Bonfire, s'mores and cold margaritas while watching a romantic movie?! I'm so in (hubby, not so much)! I am looking forward to summer nights and making new memories in our new home. With that being said, here are some inspirational looks for a backyard patio. Can't wait to work on ours!

Easy Breezy

You can never go wrong with a maxi dress, especially a lace ivory one. I've had this little cutie hiding in my closet for quite sometime so I thought I'd air it out and wear it over the weekend. It's an easy breezy does it kind of look and is a perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. Whether I pair it with a kimono or denim jacket, it simply works! This is what I consider a chic look without having to go overboard. Lately, that's what I've been gravitating towards - simple!

Oldie

We are in June and I'm looking forward to hot summer days, cold margarita's and time out in the sun (my skin sure needs it!). Speaking of June, I'm super excited that at the end of the month, I will be attending the Southwest Blog Society Conference in Charleston, South Carolina! Oh yeah! It will be a month full of exciting things! But first, can we talk about these colorful shorts? I love how I can pull an oldie and still make it look like I just bought it yesterday. Remix!

Nothing To Wear

I must confess...I've worn these shorts twice (or maybe three?) this past week. Ha! Don't judge ;). I love how comfortable they are and how it can easily be dressed up or down. They're so easy to style that I can come up with quick looks without having to stress, which is a plus in my book! With that being said, I can never say I don't have nothing to wear...no pun intended.
