Holiday Drink - Coquito

The weekend is upon us and I've already made our favorite Puerto Rican holiday drink - Coquito, ready to serve. Every other year, we try to spend the holidays with our family in Puerto Rico and  enjoy the fun festivities our beautiful culture has and not to mention, the delicious drinks such as this one, #coquito. However, this year we decided to spend the holidays at home so we can start our own holiday family traditions but of course, include our culture customs in the mix, ya know what I mean?

We are looking forward to eating pernil (pork shoulder), arroz con gandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas), and guineitos en escabeche (green banana salad) on Christmas Eve, opening presents on Christmas day, wearing our matching pajamas, while listening to Pandora station, "Navidad en Puerto Rico Radio" and mommy and daddy having a little coquito because that's how we do it. So, if you're looking for a quick delicious drink to try this holiday season, this one is just for you! See recipe below.

Coquito - The Puerto Rican Egg Nog

Coquito is a coconut-alcoholic based drink Puerto Rican's love to drink during the holidays. It's an easy drink to make in 5-10 minutes. The following ingredients could serve 4-6. *for a non-alcohol drink, don't add rum.*

2 cans of coconut cream
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 can of evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 cups of Bacardi rum
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg

Add all ingredients into blender and blend until well mixed, 2-3 min. Pour into your favorite bottle and refrigerate until cold. Before serving into a glass, make sure to shake well, pour drink and then sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon for taste. Voila! You have yourself a delicious, easy drink to enjoy with family and friends.

Favorite Christmas Decor

I can't believe Christmas is ONE week away! Can you believe it?! Time sure does fly. So for today's post, I thought I'd share with y'all this year's Christmas theme in the Vega's - Alpine Christmas. It's all about dreaming of a country christmas, a cabin, snow, wood, yes! However, let's be real, by the time I see would probably be late January or beginning of February because you know, #calilife but this will do!

But in all seriousness, we love incorporating the color red and green to our farmhouse Christmas style décor. Last year, we went with an all white theme but there is something about green and red that screams Christmas, am  I right? We just couldn't resist and I'm sure Emily is all about it. But this year, is all about making memories. Speaking about Christmas, have y'all finished your Christmas shopping? I'm almost there!

Winter Long Vest

When you're a mom, the first thing you think about when dressing up is comfort, right? I am right there with you! However, I have to make my outfit a little interesting just because. By adding a layering piece to my look, it made such a difference. I'm definitely planning on wearing this vest to the office so stay tuned on how I do a work style look for the girl on-the-go!

How to style a Camo Tee

You can never go wrong with a camo tee. I took advantage of Francesca's sale buy one, get one at 40% off and snatched this tee without hesitation. It's the perfect print to wear for an everyday look, especially when you're always on-the-go! One of my favorite ways to wear this print is with a denim vest, casual yet, chic! but I love how I paired it with a green utility jacket this time around.
