Why I've been away...

I was a little hesitant in writing this post but I think it's fair to share why I've been inconsistent and absent on the blog and social media lately. Anxiety and depression sucks. It's a topic that many don't like to discuss but it's important to raise awareness. Everyone handles these type of situations differently and at the end of the day, what matters is that YOU do something about it. Whether is take time for yourself, seek medical help, take a trip...whatever that is, just do it.

I needed this break for my sanity. It's lonely and a scary feeling but thank God for family and friends...and my faith, most importantly.  Any who, all is well!  I thought I come on here and share my reasoning for my absence. So cheers to being the best YOU and no matter how hard it gets, just know you got this! One step a time....

How to style Camo

Camo print has always been my favorite to wear all year-long - it's one of those trends that will never go out of style and is easy to wear. You've seen me style this short sleeve and long sleeve camo tee but now, it's all about the lightweight jacket which is the perfect layering piece for fall. Remember, try not to over think the look and just know, the pattern is a statement for itself. So my style tip is to stick with neutrals - white tee, black, tan or chambray. Accessories - start small by wearing the print with a hat or scarf , you can still make a statement!

Fall in SoCal

October is here! Temperatures will be in the mid 80's today, crazy right?  Although I miss the east coast weather around this time, nothing beats getting away with wearing pieces that can easily transition from warmer to cooler days - oh, that Cali life! With that being said, this smooth faux suede skirt is the perfect piece to welcome fall in SoCal - it's trendy and super soft. I went with a dressier look just because but you can dress it down by pairing it with tights and booties. My kind of style!

Joggers

I'm all about outfits that can be worn many ways, especially if it feels like I'm wearing pajamas. This look is a perfect example - when you want to look put together and fashionable but still feel comfortable while running errands. Just know, you can wear these joggers with any type of shoe and still look polished. For this outfit, I wore my new backless loafer mules for a chic and effortless look. It's a style I see myself repeating more than once, for sure. I can't wait to wear these to the office - stay tuned on how I style them.

How to style Step-Hem Jeans

We all know I am all about the skinny jean life. All day, every day! However, there is one denim style that caught my attention this summer - the step-hem trend. Its unique style cut - short in the front and long in the back, is the perfect jeans to transition from summer (sandals) to fall (booties), which is what I currently need in my closet - pieces that can be worn all year long. So how does one style this denim trend? Well, I went with an off the shoulder top and mule sandals for a dressier look, but you can totally rock this trend with a button down tee and cute booties to keep things casual. Simple, chic and on point! I know trying new trends can be a little intimidating, but it's good to get out of our comfort zone once in a while, right? Would you dare try this trend?

How to Style a White T-Shirt

Tee: Madewell (similar - wearing a Medium) | Jeans: Old Navy  | Sunglasses: Francescas (similar) | Necklace: Nordstrom (baublebar) | Heels: BCBGeneration  | Purse: ALDO (similar)

The white t-shirt - a classic staple every girl should have in their closet. The outfit ideas are endless, from casual to dressed up, you can grab a simple white tee and make your outfit stand out with just about anything. Normally, I'm all about the casual look but this time, I went with a dressier look because hello? Someone is turning 36 next month. Sweet baby, Jesus! Where did time go?! If you didn't know, I'm a mom and getting dressed up takes more time than usual so, adding a pair of sexy heels and a cute statement piece to my simple ensemble just seals the deal for me. Basic, yet chic!

Open-Toe Sling Back Booties

Although, I'm loving some of the fall style pieces bloggers are sharing now-a-days, my heart is not ready to let go of summer. Plus, lately San Diego temperatures (especially, east side) have been above the 90's so yeah...as Kevin Hart would say, "She wasn't ready!" Can a girl just enjoy breezy dresses, shorts, and cute comfy shoes? Speaking of comfy shoes, how about...

These open-toe, sling back booties?! They give you that instant style without having to do too much to a look. I love how they can easily go with a dress or even skinny jeans for a night on the town. And did I mention they are less than $35?! Listen, I'm all about style but on a budget, win-win!

How to Style a Bookshelf

After three years living in our home, I can't believe I'm finally styling our bookshelf. Why did it take this long? Well, for one, figuring out what pieces to use was quite challenging. I found myself over thinking and trying to come up with a look that works, when all along I had items I could already work with.

First, you want to come up with a theme…whether it be color or style…For me, I'm all about the vintage/shabby/farmhouse style so I went with the soft pink, soft blue and white colors. I had a couple of books hanging around so all I did was flip the covers for a white crisp look.

I added picture frames and floral arrangements for a nice contrast. My brother got me a vintage jewelry case with a vintage brush for Christmas two years ago that gave it the perfect touch. Just remember, you want to keep a balance between each shelf, stick to a color theme/style and work with what you have. You'd be surprised with what you come up with without having to spend a fortunate on new items. Now, I call that style on a budget!

Floral Jumpsuit

mentioned two months ago how I'm loving the jumpsuit trend...well, I'm finally trying it out and I'm obsessed! I found this cute little number at Marshalls for less than $20...can you say, deal?! I wasn't kidding on how easy it is to style and how it can work for any occasion. It's super lightweight and will go well with a pair of flat sandals or heels, depending on the occasion. I'm planning on attending  the blog societies conference next month, and you bet I'll be wearing this little number to the event. I've linked similar options down below if you'd like to check it out!

Cold Shoulder Shift Dress

I've got to admit, the cold shoulder trend is THE style to wear this summer. You look put together without trying so hard, you know what I mean? I packed this floral print cold shoulder shift dress from Target to our Mexico trip but never got around on wearing it, but for sure this is one to have if you are heading to a vacation destination. It's super light and perfect to wear on a brunch date with friends or even dinner. If you'd like to dress it down, you can totally rock it with a pair of sneaks or sandals for a comfier look.
