How to Style a White T-Shirt

Tee: Madewell (similar - wearing a Medium) | Jeans: Old Navy (definitely recommend! Currently 40% Off with CODE: STYLE) | Sunglasses: Francescas (similar) | Necklace: Nordstrom (baublebar) | Heels: BCBGeneration (similar - less than $50!) | Purse: ALDO (similar)

The white t-shirt - a classic staple every girl should have in their closet. The outfit ideas are endless, from casual to dressed up, you can grab a simple white tee and make your outfit stand out with just about anything. Normally, I'm all about the casual look but this time, I went with a dressier look because hello? Someone is turning 36 next month. Sweet baby, Jesus! Where did time go?! If you didn't know, I'm a mom and getting dressed up takes more time than usual so, adding a pair of sexy heels and a cute statement piece to my simple ensemble just seals the deal for me. Basic, yet chic!

Open-Toe Sling Back Booties

Although, I'm loving some of the fall style pieces bloggers are sharing now-a-days, my heart is not ready to let go of summer. Plus, lately San Diego temperatures (especially, east side) have been above the 90's so yeah...as Kevin Hart would say, "She wasn't ready!" Can a girl just enjoy breezy dresses, shorts, and cute comfy shoes? Speaking of comfy shoes, how about...

These open-toe, sling back booties?! They give you that instant style without having to do too much to a look. I love how they can easily go with a dress or even skinny jeans for a night on the town. And did I mention they are less than $35?! Listen, I'm all about style but on a budget, win-win!

How to Style a Bookshelf

After three years living in our home, I can't believe I'm finally styling our bookshelf. Why did it take this long? Well, for one, figuring out what pieces to use was quite challenging. I found myself over thinking and trying to come up with a look that works, when all along I had items I could already work with.

First, you want to come up with a theme…whether it be color or style…For me, I'm all about the vintage/shabby/farmhouse style so I went with the soft pink, soft blue and white colors. I had a couple of books hanging around so all I did was flip the covers for a white crisp look.

I added picture frames and floral arrangements for a nice contrast. My brother got me a vintage jewelry case with a vintage brush for Christmas two years ago that gave it the perfect touch. Just remember, you want to keep a balance between each shelf, stick to a color theme/style and work with what you have. You'd be surprised with what you come up with without having to spend a fortunate on new items. Now, I call that style on a budget!

Floral Jumpsuit

mentioned two months ago how I'm loving the jumpsuit trend...well, I'm finally trying it out and I'm obsessed! I found this cute little number at Marshalls for less than $20...can you say, deal?! I wasn't kidding on how easy it is to style and how it can work for any occasion. It's super lightweight and will go well with a pair of flat sandals or heels, depending on the occasion. I'm planning on attending  the blog societies conference next month, and you bet I'll be wearing this little number to the event. I've linked similar options down below if you'd like to check it out!

Cold Shoulder Shift Dress

I've got to admit, the cold shoulder trend is THE style to wear this summer. You look put together without trying so hard, you know what I mean? I packed this floral print cold shoulder shift dress from Target to our Mexico trip but never got around on wearing it, but for sure this is one to have if you are heading to a vacation destination. It's super light and perfect to wear on a brunch date with friends or even dinner. If you'd like to dress it down, you can totally rock it with a pair of sneaks or sandals for a comfier look.

Mustard Yellow

Happy hump day, friends! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend with family and friends and are well hydrated, ha! As for us, we attended a bbq/block party at our neighborhood (lot's of food and wine - #thestruggleisreal) and ended the weekend at Aquatica water park to kick-off the summer, which was so much fun! We just wished it wasn't so chilly outside. Not sure what's going on with San Diego weather but we are in need of warmer temperatures, like ASAP! But in the mean time, I'll enjoy a little spring layer.

Now, can we talk about mustard yellow being the 'IT' color for spring?! LOVE! I typically wear this color in the fall but when I stopped at Francesca's a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't help and look through the beautiful pieces they had in this color - from shoes, to earrings, tops...you name it, they have it.  Again, chilly temps call for light layering, so I paired my top with a long light vest and white jeans because this color combo works perfectly for spring and summer.  For our bbq/block party, I wore the same top with distressed denim shorts and white sandals for a casual look. Below I share a couple of my favorite mustard yellow pieces.

White Floral Dress

You can never go wrong with a floral dress, simple as that! Especially, if the dress is fitted at the top with a defined waist and flared at the bottom - my kind of style. Not to mention, its lightweight, cute, comfy and will work for any occasion. I wore it at a blogger event this weekend and plan on taking it to our summer trip next month. I paired it with my go-to espadrilles sandals but will totally work with flat sandals for the warmer days.

Block Heel Mules

When dressing to the office, I always like to have fun with my looks but still feel comfortable through out the day. I am consistently going up and down the stairs and sometimes walking from one building to another so wearing the right shoes is a must - hence, my love for flats! However, you can never say no to a good pair of block heel mules. It's the perfect block heel to own - not too dressy, but still cute to make a statement. I love pairing them with a pencil skirt or a dress to the office…style tip: choose one piece and make it your focal point - hence, why I kept my accessories at a minimum.

What about you? Are you a flats or heels kind of gal?

What to wear to a wedding

It's wedding season and you're looking forward to attending that special someone's nuptials but have no clue what to wear for the occasion…I know, we've all been there. However, I'm a big believer in comfort (and cheap) while staying on trend - that's why floral will never go out of style. We are in spring, so going with pastel colors or floral prints is a great start on what to wear to a wedding but just remember, you want to look put together and not over shadow the bride, you know what I mean? So, whether your preference is a dress, jumpsuit, or pant suit, if it looks good and feels right for the event, go for it! Below I'm sharing some of my floral dresses under $75 for a wedding.
