How to style a graphic tee

Real talk. This graphic tee describes me perfectly. I am pretty sure my momma's out there can agree with this statement. It's the fuel that keeps us going and the beauty product that makes us look alive, ha! By the way, I was on coffee numero dos while shooting this look because you know...the weekend. I swear, it went by super fast and I feel like I didn't do as much as I wanted too but hey, there is always tomorrow!

Back to the look, casual and comfort is what it's all about. I love how I added layers to my look giving me the option to remove, if needed (it was chilly in the morning and low 80's in the afternoon) but still look well-put together. Long cardi's are my favorite and can't forget the beanie hats - they seal the deal.

Office Ready

When dressing up to the workplace, I'm all about comfort yet, I want to look well put together. As most of you know, I'm a mom so life is crazy as it is...With that being said, I've learned to prep my looks the night before so that I'm not going crazy figuring out what to wear the morning of. So for today's post, I thought I'd share a couple of tips on how you can get ready for the office without trying so hard.

Black Bottoms

Whether you go for pants or a skirt, you can never go wrong with black. It's a basic color and super easy to style. You can pair it with a sweater, button down shirt, or a stripe top just like I did.

Shoes

Remember, you don't always have to go with the plain look. Just make sure you are following your company's dress code and think outside the box - Go with mule-flats!  I have yet to wear this style to the office but I will definitely be rocking this in the near future! *Tip: Go with another color besides black.

Jewelry

Did you see my post on what  jewelry to wear to the workplace? Adding a statement necklace or pretty stud earrings to your outfit can take it from simple to dressy, which is what you want!

And there you have it folks! My simple tips on how to take a basic office look up a notch. By the way, are you like me? Do you prep your looks the night before? Let me know in the comments below.

Skip Hop Dusty Rose Diaper Backpack

Happy Monday, friends! My beautiful Emily is back on the blog! If you missed the first one, see here. Now that she's 22 months old, she is letting her personality shine through. It's amazing to see her communicate with us and how much she understands. She's growing too fast! Speaking of growing, we were way over due for a new diaper bag. I knew this time I wanted something comfortable, yet chic that I could wear all the time. While searching for bags, I came across this  Skip Hop backpack and let me tell you...it's exactly what I wanted. It has all the necessary compartments to hold the essentials for Emily, as well as serve as my "purse." I hate carrying a diaper bag and purse - it's just too much, and this bag just did it for me. It also comes in four different colors and it's made of durable, wipe-clean vegan leather. Oh, and it comes with a diaper pad, too! Done-deal.

Wearing Jewelry to the workplace

Deciding what jewelry to wear to the workplace is a little stressful; however, I am big believer of thinking outside the box. Listen, whether you are all about the basics or #teamprints, I think adding a necklace, bracelet, or statement earrings to your look is perfect! Remember, the key is not to go overboard but just give it the right touch to take it from simple to glam!

Necklaces

I'm a huge fan of necklaces for the office. Especially, if I'm wearing a skirt or dress. When wearing a necklace, I may add small stud earrings or none at all - remember, less is more. *Tip: If wearing prints, go with a gold (or silver - whichever you prefer) statement necklace or if you decide to go for example, with a black or gray basic colored outfit, then I would go with a "in-your-face" statement necklace, ha! Again, that's just me. Here are some affordable statement necklaces that will dress up any look!

Bracelets

If I'm wearing a short sleeve shirt or dress, I'll go for the dainty bracelet and the oversized stud earrings. Sometimes, I may just stick with the bracelet - I think it all depends in what mood I'm in, too. No biggie, just go with what you feel that day.

Earrings

I have to say I wear these more than any other jewelry. I am a HUGE fan of Charming Charlie when it comes to jewelry for the workplace. They have so many options to choose from and are affordable, which is a win-win in my book! Another place I love to buy earrings from are Baublebar, as you can see here and here - obsessed! Here are some of my favorite picks below.

Fear of growing

What can I say, this post has lingered in my "drafts" for a while. Not going to lie, to click "publish" was quite frightening but at the same time, liberating. By no means, do I consider myself a "Guru" in the blogger world but I have to admit, the fear of growing freaks me the hell out. How does one pitch a sponsorship post when you don't have thousands of followers? J..."Let go, Let God." That's the words I've had on repeat since the beginning of the new year. NO more doubts, NO more hesitation. Just go for it! This year, I want to bring more content to my blog and share my experiences with y'all. I started using the poll option in Instagram to get a better feel of what you want to see and so far, it's been very helpful! Any-who, If you want to know a bit more about me, you may want to follow a long Instastories. ;) Happy Monday, friends!

How to wear a blanket scarf

A blanket scarf. Every girl should have at least one in their closet. Scarfs are comfy and the warmest accessory for winter. Unfortunately, mine has been hanging in my closet for too long because you know, San Diego weather! Although lately, I think could get away with wearing it since the temperature has been in the low 60's - in the afternoon that is, ha! There are so many ways to style a blanket scarf; however, I kept it simple. I let it hang loose on the front without doing too much. Another quick way to style your scarf is to drape it across your neck with one long end hanging out, as seen in the picture below. What's your favorite way to style a blanket scarf?

My Personal Goals for 2018

My first post of the year, yay! I'm trying to start the new year right but the struggle is real, friends. My family and I are fighting a nasty cold and it's just lingering too long but hey, the show must go on. I told myself this year I'm not going with new year resolutions but rather focus on personal goals I would like to achieve. So without further ado, here are my three goals for the year.

Fitness
I will be 36 yrs old this year so staying healthy and working out is on my top list. I have a 21 month old who emulates everything I do so it's really important I set the standard from the get-go. I've been a loyal customer of healthy prep meals from Healthy-Momma so at least I can check that off the list; however, it's the working out that needs more attention. Momma's got to keep up with the little one, ya know what I mean? I've heard so many bloggers talk about the BBG fitness program (the app is, "Sweat") so I am definitely going to check it out since I don't have time to hit the gym.

Blogging
Working a full-time job, having a pre-toddler, and wife duties is a lot but this year I want to expand my options and do more blogging, no excuses! I love sharing my tips with y'all whether it's fashion, home décor, or mommy life...you name it, I am sharing! I definitely want to think outside the box and try new things that are out of my comfort zone. Fear is not an option.

Reading
I long for those days where I could finish a book in one or two days but let's be real...I just don't have the time. However, I am making it a priority to read more this year. I need, "ME" time. I miss reading books and just relaxing whether it be one or two hours a day. It's important to take care yourself even though life is a little cray-cray.

All-in-all, I'm starting the year with a positive attitude and thinking of what's really important in life - health, family, and being sane. What are some of your goals this year? Please share below!
